Arachova is on water alert until December 6 due to water shortage. By decision of the Civil Protection, the Municipality of Distomo – Arachova – Antikyra is declared in a state of emergency.
The decision was taken in order to immediately deal with the emergency needs and effectively manage the consequences that may arise in the region from the phenomena of water scarcity.

The state of emergency will be in effect for approximately one month, until December 6, 2024, after which it will be lifted automatically, without the need for a new document to be issued by Civil Protection.
This decision came in view of the winter, which is predicted to be difficult due to the lack of rain in recent months.
Water transport in Arachova
The Municipality, a few days ago, activated water carriers which carry out continuous water transfers from Mornos. Through these routes, an attempt is made to cover the basic water supply needs, as the reserves of Arachova are not sufficient to cover the demand.
According to information, the preliminary study has already progressed for the transfer of water from the two rivers that flow into the lake of Kremasta, but also the lake itself.
Rains are coming… finally
In the meantime, the rainfall so far has been minimal, however, as the meteorologist of MEGA, Yiannis Kallianos, said, a change of scenery is expected from next Monday, as the anticyclone that kept the rains away from our country “broke”.
Specifically, intermittent rains will occur in the Ionian and continental areas, while the phenomena will be more intense in the Ionian Islands and the western continental areas.
Temporary snowfall will occur in the mountains of northern Greece, while cold and even frost will prevail in the morning and evening in the mountains of northern Greece, with the thermometer reaching -2°C to -3°C.
