Dubai, September 16 / WAM / The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture” is launching the “Arabic Calligraphy, Ornamentation and Gilding Courses” project during the period from September 18 to next December in order to support and encourage emerging talents to discover the masterpieces of Arabic calligraphy by creating platforms. Various to enable creative people and motivate them to display their artistic works inspired by Arabic calligraphy.
The project, which falls under the umbrella of the “Dubai Calligraphy Biennial,” targets young people aged 13 and above, school and university students and employees, in addition to those interested in Arabic calligraphy and enthusiasts of this art, and includes a variety of specialized courses in Thuluth scripts, Naskh, Diwani Jali, and Ruq’a, as well as Leave line.
It allows participants to learn to master and control writing and connecting letters, and to draw and control compositions, while the “Ornamentation and Gilding” course gives them the opportunity to learn about the principles and foundations of decoration, innovative materials for decoration work, and methods of coloring and distributing the vocabulary of decoration. As for the “Creative Writing” course, it also enables them to During the “Foundations and Elements of Composition in Artwork” course, you will learn about the types of composition, elements and foundations of design, analysis and criticism of works of art.
The “Arabic Calligraphy, Ornamentation and Gilding Courses” project includes a series of lectures and dialogue sessions presented by a group of experts and specialists in the art of Arabic calligraphy.
The project, hosted by Dubai’s public libraries, heritage sites, museums, Thukher Club, Al Jalila Center for Children’s Culture, and the Dubai Club for People of Determination, will witness the organization of an exhibition, “Arabic Calligraphy Paintings with Ornamental and Gilding Paintings,” in addition to the screening of a documentary film reviewing the history and philosophy of Arabic calligraphy.
Khalil Abdul Wahed, Director of the Fine Arts Department at Dubai Culture, stressed the authority’s keenness to protect, preserve and develop the art of Arabic calligraphy, introduce society to its contents, and support emerging talents in this field by creating an appropriate environment for them.
