Arab League Transfer Market: Jota Regrets Move to Al Ittihad while Club Eyes Mohamed Salah

The Arab League is being the undisputed protagonist of this transfer market across the planet. Several teams have already convinced several stars to give cachet to the competition, although one of them seems to have already regretted one of their movements.

This is Jota, a 24-year-old Portuguese footballer who this window changed from Celtic Glasgow to Al Ittihad, the current champion of the competition who already has other stars such as Karim Benzema, NGolo Kanté or Fabinho in their ranks. The Portuguese arrived for 30 million euros but the Saudi press is already talking about leaving just a month after his arrival.

In Saudi Arabia, the local press speaks of “dissatisfaction between the fans and the leaders” over the arrival of a player “without a star sign”, taking his departure from the team coached by Nuno Espirito Santo for granted.

Now, Al Ittihad would be focusing on Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s Egyptian star, for whom they will make an offensive before the market closes on September 20, more than two weeks after the end of the window in European football.

Internal crisis and two other exits

Ittihad’s 0-3 defeat against Al-Raed on the opening day of the 2023/24 Saudi Pro League has not calmed the flames that have ignited part of the dressing room of the reigning Saudi league champion. Benzema’s team, candidate to win everything this year, is experiencing a moment of internal crisis due to the instability of the market, reported the newspaper ‘Al-Sharq Al-Awsat’.

The same sources indicated that the general atmosphere in the club “is dominated by tension” due to the instability of the situation of foreign players, and it seems that Jota’s departure is the first move to try to calm an environment that is more than heated.

The Portuguese could be joined by the Brazilian Marcelo Grohe and the Egyptian Tariq Hamed, the latter having already agreed to his arrival at Al-Wehda.
