Arab Condemnation of Houthi Attack on Bahrain Defense Force in Yemen

Arab condemnations continued for the Houthi attack that targeted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Defense Force in Yemen yesterday, resulting in the martyrdom of two soldiers and the injury of others.

Today (Tuesday), the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s condemnation and denunciation of “the treacherous attack on the defense force of the sister Kingdom of Bahrain stationed on the southern border of the Kingdom, which resulted in the martyrdom of a number of its brave soldiers and the injury of others,” according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). .

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its sincere condolences to the leadership and people of the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, and to the families of the heroic martyrs, and may the Almighty shower their mercy and great forgiveness, and grant the injured a speedy recovery.

The Kingdom also affirmed its full support and solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Bahrain, reiterating its position calling for “stopping the continued flow of weapons to the terrorist Houthi militia, preventing their export into Yemen, and ensuring that they do not violate United Nations resolutions.”

For its part, the UAE expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Bahrain over the “martyrdom” and wounding of a number of its defense force, as part of the Arab coalition forces participating in the “Decisive Storm” and “Restore Hope” operations, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated in a statement that the attack represents a disregard for all international laws and norms, which requires a deterrent response. The Ministry also urged the international community to unite efforts and take a decisive stance to stop these operations and return to a political process that leads to achieving peace, security and stability in Yemen and the region.

The Ministry expressed its “sincere condolences and sympathy to the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, its brotherly people, and the families and relatives of the martyrs in this painful affliction, and its wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured.”

Likewise, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the brotherly people of Bahrain, in the martyrdom of an officer and an individual, and the injury of a number of members of the duty force of the Bahrain Defense Force while performing their sacred national duty to defend… The southern border of the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within the Arab coalition forces participating in Operation Decisive Storm and Restoring Hope, according to the Saudi News Agency (SPA).

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also condemned the attack, and a statement said that the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, “stressed that such provocative actions are not consistent with the positive efforts being made to seek to end the crisis in Yemen.”

In turn, Egypt condemned the attack on Bahraini forces participating in Operation Decisive Storm and Restoring Hope, and expressed its solidarity with Bahrain in the incident.

Egypt offered its sincere condolences and sympathy to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and affirmed its full solidarity with it “as a result of this treacherous terrorist attack,” calling for the need to continue concerted regional and international efforts to confront terrorism in all its forms, and to put an end to practices aimed at destabilizing Arab countries.

Today (Tuesday), the Middle East News Agency quoted a statement from the League of Arab States, saying that the Secretary-General of the League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, mourned the two Bahraini soldiers who were martyred in the Houthi attack.

The statement said, “Aboul Gheit condemned the continuation of the Houthi attacks despite the legitimate government’s commitment to the truce and ceasefire,” holding the Houthi party responsible for the continued suffering of the Yemenis, saying that it “resolutely rejects all calls for peace and insists on continuing the approach of violence and sabotage.”

Morocco also condemned the targeting of positions of Bahraini forces participating in the coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen and stationed on the southern border of Saudi Arabia. A statement by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported by the Maghreb Arab News Agency, said: “The Kingdom of Morocco affirms its complete and continuous solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Bahrain and its standing with it in the face of this cowardly terrorist act. It also expresses its condolences to the sister Kingdom of Bahrain and the families of the victims, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.”

Yesterday (Monday), the Bahrain Defense Force announced that two of its members were killed and others wounded in a drone attack launched by the Houthi militia in Yemen.

A statement by the Bahrain Defense Force, reported by the Bahrain News Agency, said: “An officer and an individual were martyred, and a number of others were wounded from the duty force of the Bahrain Defense Force while performing their national duty to defend the southern borders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia within the Arab coalition forces participating in Operations (Decisive Storm) and (Restoring hope).”

The statement added: “This treacherous terrorist act was carried out by the Houthis sending attack drones on the positions of the Bahraini Duty Force stationed at the southern border on the territory of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, despite the cessation of military operations between the parties to the war in Yemen.”

He added, “A plane was sent with an integrated medical crew to evacuate the wounded, wounded and martyrs to the land of Bahrain.”

The “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen” also mourned the heroic martyrs “loyal to their religion and nation,” offering their deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to their families and loved ones, praying to God to cover them with His vast mercy and dwell them in His spacious paradise, accept them as righteous martyrs, and grant the injured a speedy recovery.

Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the coalition, explained that the Joint Forces Command condemns the treacherous attack by some Houthi elements, as a hostile act in the context of the hostilities during the past month, targeting an electric power distribution station and a police station in the border region.

He noted that such repeated hostile and provocative actions are not consistent with the positive efforts being made in an effort to end the crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution, stressing that the coalition leadership rejects repeated provocations and reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place.
