CHENNAI – The police found that more than twice the number of tickets than allowed were illegally sold at the AR Rahman music night organized by a private event management company. Police said that 21,000 tickets were sold in excess of the event, which was allowed for only 20,000 spectators. Police are investigating how 41,000 tickets were sold when only 20,000 tickets were allowed. An investigation is also underway to see if the organizers have given wrong information.
It is estimated that more than 45,000 people attended the event held at ECR on the 10th. Adequate security personnel were also not deployed. Many people who had paid for tickets were unable to enter for hours. The Chief Minister’s vehicle also got into a traffic jam. With this, the police started an investigation.
