Aywaille The Petit Seveso company must renew its license… and move. But where ?
All the lights seemed to be “green” a few months ago. But a rather gloomy summer literally drowned the hopes of the Kauffman company, a gas specialist in Aywaille and which now wishes to move its activities from Remouchamps (under the descent of the motorway) to Raborive, that is to say on the site of the ‘old quarry, between Aywaille and Comblain, right next to the Elfique brewery. On the sidelines of the local protest, in fact, a new deal has entered the debates: the flooding nature of the places.
As a reminder, the Kauffman company, classified Petit Seveso and occupying about forty jobs, will soon have to renew its operating license. The problem is that since 1975, when it was established in Aywaille, the direct environment of the company has changed: it has become highly urbanized. To avoid a refusal of renewal, the departure to a less densely populated area (Raborive quarry therefore) had been organized. Following the permit application, the local authorities were to issue an opinion this summer, before receiving that of the technical officer of the Region in order to decide… an opinion expected at the end of October.
