APROSS takes steps to vaccinate its members against dengue

In a conversation with Radio Universidad, the president of the College of Medicine announced that APROSS is in talks with the Takeda laboratory to buy doses of the dengue vaccine. The aim is to make them available to their affiliates, who would have a 30% discount on the final price.

As Daniele confirmed to the program “Catch up”, there are many questions about the vaccine in pharmacies, but people think twice when they hear the price. Currently each dose costs about $94,000, and two are needed to achieve the necessary protection against the virus.

Takeda had promised to have special doses for the private sector at this stage, but this week the laboratory announced that they would be available closer to the end of November. The problem is that there must be a gap of 3 months between the two injections, so those who vaccinate in the last month of the year would get immunity between the February and March next year, with a good part of the summer already over.

Another surprising fact is that there is low demand among those who have the ability to be imported for free. Those who have been hospitalized for severe dengue for 24 hours will be contacted by CiDi to join the vaccination campaign at no cost. However, as confirmed by regional sources, only 20% of those who were notified did this process.

Regarding the situation of re-transition, the interviewer said that, although “there is no shortage,” the first brands last very little on the counter.
