Aprilia: Decisions to start in Jerez

Aprilia participated in the three Misano test days with three pilots. In addition to Aleix Espargaró and Bradley Smith, test driver Lorenzo Savadori was also allowed to hit the slopes. First he worked with the RSV4 1100, with which he will compete in the Italian championship. On the third and last day of testing, the 27-year-old Italian was then allowed to move out on the 2019 RS-GP.

Afterwards Savadori was happy: “It was great to be back in the saddle of an Aprilia MotoGP machine. My feeling improves with every ride, both in terms of tires, bike and brakes. I understand better and better what I have to adapt to the driving style in order to exploit the potential. I did 80 laps on the last day of the test and am quite satisfied with the performance in every respect. »

The former 125cc pilot also made good progress with the RSV4 1100. “We still have to find out a few things, of course, but we’ll be back on the slopes soon,” said the test driver, adding: “In the three test days, I covered a total of more than 900 km, but I still feel physically comfortable and also that’s a positive aspect. »

Aprilia Technical Director Romano Albesiano, for his part, summed up happily: «These were important test days to determine the starting point for the World Cup. We analyzed the different chassis, motors and electronics solutions and also consolidated the teamwork, which is brand new in many ways. The drivers also brought these test days to find a good rhythm again after such a long break. And I have to say that I could see progress day by day. »

The 56-year-old Italian also confirmed: «The decisions for the start of the season in Jerez were made and many new features that we prepared worked as desired. I’m pretty happy with the level the bike is at. Nevertheless, of course, we still have to do a lot of detailed work, especially to improve reliability. »
