Student at the Faculty of Caen in a foreign language license, Manon Hantrais decided to change her path and do a CAP Tiles and Mosaic. A year later, she received the departmental and regional gold medal for the best apprentice in France.
Foreign languages on tiling
Born in Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine), Manon Hantrais studied at the College of the Immaculate Conception in Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët before joining the Lycée Notre Dame de la Providence in Avranches. There, she obtained a literary baccalaureate with honors, and with her bac in her pocket, she joined the Faculty of Caen to do a bachelor’s degree in a foreign language.
But with the covid, I wondered about my future. I realized that my training did not appeal to me. So I wanted to turn to crafts. My choice fell on the tiles and the mosaic after seeing a report. But before embarking on this path, I did a test. My choice validated, I enrolled at CAF Fougères to do a Tiles CAP that I obtained.
Today, the young student continues her studies. She is doing a professional baccalaureate in tiling in Laval.
A medal obtained at the departmental level
One year after her conversion to tiling, Manon Hantrais won the departmental and regional gold medal in the competition for the best apprentice in France.
“I didn’t expect to have it. It’s a new source of motivation. To pass this competition, I submitted a file. We had a subject. We were free to choose the decor and the colors. I started making my work at home. Thanks to my boss, I was able to continue him at work.
“Without the support of my family and my boss, I wouldn’t have been able to get these two medals. I will now prepare for the national competition which will take place in November, ”concludes Manon Hantrais.
