After the registration period closed, the state of Pennsylvania decided to reopen applications to obtain stimulus checks of up to $1000.00 USD. In this sense, the money is part of a property tax and rental reimbursement program, which will take place in 2024.
So Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro promised that senior residents will get more financial help. Therefore, he signed the so-called Law 7 in 2023, which expands the property / income tax refund (PTRR).
It turns out that, thanks to this expansion of eligibility, about 175,000 more Pennsylvania residents will get their property tax refund.
Likewise, another 430,000 people who originally met the eligibility since last year will be added to this amount. The latter will be able to receive stimulus checks of greater value.
When does the new filing period for the rebate program start?
The Commonwealth Department of Revenue has already reopened the period since January 16.
It should be noted that the refund applies to all property taxes and rents paid during 2023.
Let us remember that this economic stimulus program has already been carried out since last year. However, the maximum amounts that could be obtained were $650.00 USD.
On the other hand, by 2024, the stimulus check may be up to $1000.00 USD for each qualified person. But not only the amount was increased, but also the income limits.
That is, tenants and owners who have incomes of up to $45,000.00 USD annually ($10,000.00 USD more than in 2023) will be eligible.
These stimulus checks are only available to older adults who are at least 65 years old, and widows who are at least 50 years old. Added to them are people who suffer from a disability and are at least 18 years old.
