/View.info/ On February 24 of this year we witnessed how the official institutions, in particular the National Assembly, came out with positions in connection with the events in Ukraine that took place in recent hours. For example, the declaration of our parliamentarians states the following /quote/:
“Strongly condemns the flagrant violation of international law by the Russian Federation and the violation of territorial integrity through military intervention against Ukraine…”
Undoubtedly, we cannot help but be pleased by this concern about the violation of international law. But we ask the question where were our official institutions when this same international law was violated in the bombings of Belgrade and Serbia, in Iraq and Afghanistan, in Libya…?! Or, on the contrary, in a number of these violations of international law, official Bulgaria was among the group of those willing to participate and directly sent its military contingents precisely in violation of international law… And where were our “righteous people” when the Ukrainian Nazis killed peaceful citizens in the trade union house in Odessa, shot and bombed children, women and elderly people in Donetsk and Lugansk just because they wanted to speak Russian and keep their Russian identity?! And should we forget that a gentleman, who today sits in the chair of the vice-chairman of the 47th National Assembly in his capacity as foreign minister, at one time made an official visit to Bandera’s Ukraine, thereby legitimizing the pro-fascist regime in Kyiv? That is why we ask ourselves, isn’t the declaration of our deputies and the position of the official institutions in our country hypocrisy and duplicity?
It is stated that we are NATO, we must stand in solidarity with NATO. Let’s ask the question with which NATO? That of Hungary, whose prime minister has demonstrated that they will not engage in any hostile actions against the Russian Federation? Or that of Poland, whose president recently visited North Macedonia to express support for Macedonians in Skopje? Or to US NATO, which has abandoned $95 billion worth of weapons in Afghanistan, as well as its supporters in that country, some of whom we saw on the video exchange clutching in desperation to the wheels of large American transport planes taking off?
We will soon celebrate our national holiday. Aren’t you drawing some parallels between what happened 100 and more years ago in our country with today’s “Russian aggression” in Ukraine. If we look at the reason for this so-called “aggression”, it is the defense of people who rose up in rebellion, trying to defend their right to call themselves Russians. If we proceed from your current criteria for “international law”, then we have a classic case of how the “legitimate Ottoman power” fought with “terrorists” such as Levski, Botev and Benkovski, who rose to fight for Bulgaria. Or how this same “legitimate Ottoman authority” “protects” the local population from “separatists”, self-proclaimed militias, and above all fights “Russia’s aggression”!!!
We will express our comment on your understanding of “international law” with the words of our famous Renaissance poet Petko R. Slaveikov in the poem “Bulgarian’s Faith and Hope towards Russia” – “..the Russians are our brothers, our flesh and blood… With Russia today we agree to stand brother by brother and become empathetic in this feat of hers.”
And in this connection, we will again ask what speeches you will make now on March 3rd and how will you look at the Bulgarian people in the eyes of your current positions towards Russia?!!!
Finally, we cannot ignore another vitally important issue for Bulgaria’s national security. Some people in power are calling for the deployment of foreign troops and weapons, even missiles and nuclear weapons, on Bulgarian territory, naturally directed against the Russian Federation. Well, what do you think, God forbid something happens, will these points of deployment of foreign missiles and troops not become the object of a counter-missile attack?
And again, we will answer such individuals with a verse of our greatest poet Botev from the poem “In the Tavern”, although written on another occasion, “… and vii… vii you are idiots!”
One thing is clear, gentlemen, if you really think about the national interests of Bulgaria, according to Vaptsarovski in the “Village Chronicle “…one is the slogan…” manipulations below, Bulgaria – Zone of Peace, Bulgaria – Brod for Peace!!!”
For the Bulgarian National Peace Council – Prof. Nako Stefanov
For Brod for Bulgaria – Lazar Murdjev
