JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Weight In Motion (WIM) technology on toll roads officially starts Saturday (1/1/2022).
The application of WIM on this toll road is in accordance with the Circular (SE) of the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Number 116 of 2021 concerning Supervision and Enforcement of Goods Transport Vehicles for Over Dimension Violations and Over Loading Violations or ODOL on the Road Toll.
In the SE it is explained that the application of WIM aims to maintain toll road infrastructure so that it does not experience faster damage which results in state losses.
The loss is in the form of financing for road repairs due to oversize violations and overloading violations, as well as reducing the number and fatality rate of traffic accidents.
WIM is a technology that can supervise and take action against freight vehicles to improve road transportation services that are quality, comfortable, safe, innovative, and environmentally friendly.

According to the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Budi Setiyadi, WIM or scales have been installed on some toll roads, so they can work even when the car is running.
In total there are 10 WIMs that have been installed on the toll roads, namely four WIMs on the Trans-Java Toll Road and three on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road. This amount will be added and integrated with the National Police’s Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE).
“They will be billed when they will pay taxes, but at the beginning they will be issued to the exit toll closest,” Budi said as quoted from Kompas.com, Friday (12/31/2021).
Technically, WIM which is the supervision of the cargo of goods by using a weighing tool dynamic method (WIM) and inspection of administrative documents of goods transport vehicles.
