The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) delivered on Tuesday the weekly report on the progress of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Costa Rica.
According to the data provided by the institution and analyzed by Delfino.cr, During the previous week (forty-third of the campaign) 203,356 doses of vaccine were applied, which represents an acceleration of 26.47% compared to the forty-second week when 160,796 doses were applied in one week.
In total, the CCSS reports 6,124,445 doses of vaccine as placed of the 6,818,745 that have been received by the country (89.81%). Of the doses placed, 3,597,302 are first doses (58.74%, +72,042 new) and 2,527,143 are second doses (41.26%, +131,314 new).
84.16% of the target population (≈4,274,384) have received the vaccine: 59.12% It has the complete two-dose schedule. Last week’s data was: 82.47% of the population with a vaccine, 56.05% with two doses. The number of the target population pending to receive doses from the CCSS was reduced to 677,082 people.
At age range of 58 years and older, made up of 817,906 people, 1,526,912 (+8001 new) have been placed, of which 772,150 correspond to first dose (+3621) and 754,762 are second doses (+4380). Thus, 94.41% of this age group have already received the first dose, and the 92.28% already received the second.
In the age group of 40 to 57 years, made up of 1,124,875 people, 1,811,501 doses (+38,041 new) were placed, of which 998,731 are first doses (+14,735) and 812,770 correspond to the second (+23,306). Thus, 88.79% of this group have already received the first dose and the 72.25% you already have the second.
In the age group of 20 to 39 years, made up of 1,733,463 people, 2,245,288 doses (+109,032 new ones) have been placed, of which 1,444,590 are first doses (+38,156) and 800,698 are second doses (+70,876). 83.34% of this group already have the first dose and the 46.19% already received the second.
Finally, in the age group of 12 to 19 years, made up of 601,140 young people, 540,744 doses (+48,282 new ones) have been placed, of which 381,831 are first (+15,530) and 158,913 are second (+32,752). Thus, 63.52% of this age group already have the first dose and the 26.44% you have already received the complete schematic.
The group that received the most new doses last week was made up of people between 20 and 39 years of age, with 53.61% of the total of the new vaccines applied; followed by the 12 to 19 year-old group with 23.74% of the new doses.
After the announcement of the mandatory requirement to have a vaccination certificate to enter certain places and participate in certain activities as of December 1, the application of first doses rebounded 30.39%, leaving behind two weeks of downward trend.
