There are countless rumors surrounding Apple’s supposed VR headset. His arrival seems closer than ever, the members of the board of directors of Apple would have been entitled to an exclusive demo.

Apple’s VR headset presented to Tim Cook

As we know, Apple is rarely the first to adopt a new technology. The Cupertino brand prefers to take its time and ensure that the market is mature and will bring in enough. This is why we can remain skeptical about a sudden arrival of a virtual reality headset.

But we can’t help but be on the lookout for any leaks, and the latest comes from Mark Gurman. His latest report indicates that Tim Cook and the rest of the board were treated to a demonstration of a prototype of the VR headset.

This could therefore mean that Apple is further ahead than we could imagine, and is already in the testing phase. Tim Cook and his gang are perfecting their range of iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches, so they feel ready to jump into a new market soon.

Apple’s VR headset, rumors galore

Be careful not to confuse Apple’s VR headset with potential connected glasses. The latter would work in augmented reality and should not see the light of day for several years.

As for the helmet, it already suffered some leaks several months ago. Renowned informant Jon Prosser presented to us several months ago a 3D rendering of what it should look like. The interest of this device would be centered around the consumption of content, gaming and communication.

For the design, it should be rather light, hovering around 200 grams, but also comfortable with a mesh texture pressing on the face. As you would expect with Apple and even more so with a new product category, it doesn’t smile on small wallets. The helmet would be sold between 2000 and 3000 dollars.

Previously expected for 2022, the few setbacks such as Covid-19 or the lack of electronic components could have had an impact, and we could see the helmet arrive during the year 2023.

In February, a few hidden lines in Apple’s official source code repeatedly showed the term “RealityOS”, the supposed name of the new operating system dedicated to the virtual reality format.

With all the information that has been around for so long, it’s unlikely that this is all just an illusion, and we can’t wait to see what angle Apple will take by inviting itself into the controversial world of virtual reality and the Metaverse.
