Apple has officially launched its highly anticipated Vision Pro virtual reality headset in the United States. To celebrate the release, Apple CEO Tim Cook made an appearance at the company’s flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City.

During an interview with CNBC’s Jim Cramer at the event, Cook addressed the high price tag of the Vision Pro headset, which starts at $3,500. He referred to it as “tomorrow’s technology today” and emphasized that the device is packed with innovation, boasting over 5,000 patents. Cook also mentioned that Apple offers a monthly financing plan to make the headset more affordable for customers.

“We think we priced it at the right level considering the value of it,” Cook stated confidently.

Cook further highlighted that the Vision Pro is not only aimed at consumers but is also being embraced as an enterprise product. Several major companies, including Walmart, Nike, Vanguard, Stryker, Bloomberg, and SAP, have already started investing in the headset as a platform for both customers and workers. Cook believes that Apple can successfully cater to both consumer and enterprise markets with the Vision Pro, thanks to its wide range of use cases.

The Vision Pro offers a unique “spatial computing” experience and currently has over 600 apps and games available specifically designed for the headset. Apple aims to provide users with an immersive and interactive virtual reality experience.

While the Vision Pro is expected to be a significant addition to Apple’s wearables category, analysts do not anticipate it driving a substantial amount of revenue initially. However, the headset joins the ranks of other successful wearables from Apple, such as the Apple Watch and AirPods.

Apple’s recent fiscal first-quarter results exceeded revenue and earnings estimates. Although the company’s wearables business, also known as “Other Products,” experienced an 11% year-over-year sales decline, the Vision Pro is expected to contribute to the growth of this category in the future.
