Apple’s Upcoming Mixed-Reality Headset Will Feature Controversial Tethered Battery Pack Design: Insider Details

Apple’s mixed-reality headset is one of the most highly anticipated products from the tech giant, and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has been sharing insider details about the headset. In his latest newsletter, Gurman revealed new information about the headset’s tethered battery pack design. The headset will feature two ports: USB-C and a new proprietary power port. The proprietary port will be used for a magnetic charging cable that will be connected to a battery pack that has an aesthetic similar to Apple’s official MagSafe battery pack for the iPhone. The fully charged pack will offer approximately two hours of use, and users will have to buy additional battery packs to achieve day-long use. With a ski mask-like design, the headset will offer a range of features and applications, making it much smaller and likely more comfortable than most head-mounted displays on the market.
