Apple’s running shoe emoji comes to life thanks to a designer who turns it into a real pair of sneakers. This original initiative perfectly illustrates the growing influence of digital culture on the physical world, and more particularly the impact of Apple emojis in our daily lives.
A design inspired by Apple’s history
Jose Wong, artist and designer, created the “Shoe 1”, a pair of sneakers directly inspired by Apple’s running shoe emoji. What’s particularly interesting is that this emoji itself is inspired by the New Balance 574, an iconic model from 1988 — although Steve Jobs personally preferred the brand’s 991 and 992 models. Wong has captured the essence of these influences by creating a shoe that skillfully marries digital aesthetics with a functional physical product.
Premium features and nods to Apple
