Apple has sent out invitations to the second autumn keynote
It will take place unusually at night
We will probably see new computers and the Apple M3 processor
Shortly after Apple introduced the new iPhones and Apple Watch in September, debates raged about whether this is an apple dot for this year, or whether the company from Cupertino will surprise us with something else. Now we know that this year’s Apple news is not over yet – Apple sent out invitations for the second autumn keynote with the subtitle “Scary fast”, which means “Frighteningly fast”. What products will the upcoming event bring?
New computers with the Apple M3 chip?
That Apple is going to introduce new products this year was revealed last week by the usually accurate informant Mark Gurman from the Bloomberg server. We also know from him that we should not expect the arrival of new iPads – Apple is not preparing them until the beginning of next year. In addition, their launch would not make sense now, as Apple last week presented the new Apple Pencil tablet stylus with a USB-C port – if they were planning the premiere of the new iPads in Cupertino, they would certainly not present the new stylus separately.
According to Mark Gurman, the next keynote will be about computers, but the question is what they will be. The 24″ iMac is considered, which is the only one from the entire Apple computer portfolio that has not yet been updated to the current generation of M2 chips, but holding a keynote because of one computer does not make much sense.
24″ iMac a…?
We therefore consider the premiere of the new Apple M3 chipset, which should bear the motto of the event “Frighteningly fast”, to be more likely. This processor could be used by Apple in a wider range of devices – in addition to the mentioned iMac, it could find its way into the 13″ MacBook Pro. In theory, Apple could introduce upgraded MacBook Air or Mac mini, but we have some doubts here.
The arrival of new MacBook Airs would be very surprising given that the current 15″ variant has only been around for a few months. So either Apple will introduce only the 13″ model (which would be strange), or it will upgrade both sizes while keeping the current variants with the M2 chip in the menu.
The Mac mini raises similar doubts. Its current generation is not even a year old, and it is powered by M2 and M2 Pro processors. However, we doubt that Apple will introduce an M3 Pro chip next week – derivatives of the core processors usually arrive several months after the core versions. So either Apple will present only the basic M3 variant of the Mac mini, or it will upgrade this computer at a later date.
Some kind of brand new computer, for example an iMac with a larger display, is still under consideration, but there has not been a mention of it in the corridors yet.
When will the keynote take place?
Apple has chosen a rather unusual time for its next keynote – the event will start next Monday, October 30th at 5:00 PM Pacific Time, which means that the broadcast will start at 2:00 AM on Wednesday, October 31st. The choice of this term indicates that it will not be a “full-fat” keynote, which we are used to from previous years, but only the release of a shorter pre-recorded video.
