New product, new connector. This refrain at Apple could be replayed on the occasion of the presentation of its first mixed reality headset.
Mark Gurman dwells on this point in his newsletter Sunday. The journalist from Bloomberg had spoken in January of the rather constrained choice of Apple to provide its headphones with an external battery to keep in your pocket. A way to lighten the device on the head.

This power supply, described at the time as a large equivalent to the battery external MagSafe will have two ports, says Mark Gurman. The first will be USB-C type for data and the second, new, will be used for power. It would be circular and magnetic.
One would lock this socket against the helmet by turning it to the right, to prevent the cable from coming loose during use. From what we understand, Apple would have essentially redesigned its MagSafe port on MacBook Pros to better adapt it to the design of its headphones.
As for the battery, it would not be separable from its cable. It is still described as having the size of an iPhone, only thicker. It will be recharged by USB-C with the same adapter as a MacBook Pro and the autonomy would be around two hours – the headset using two small 4K screens as well as an M2 chip.
Finally, Gurman suggests that you can buy other batteries separately if you need more use time.
