Apple will reportedly use significantly faster 35W charging for the new iPhone 15
However, it should only apply to Pro (Max) models and only pay for charging with the original cable and adapter
Compared to the competition, Apple still lags behind in this regard
Apple will most likely replace the Lightning port with USB-C on the iPhone 15. It would bring up the limited charging controversy, which we covered in a separate article. However, for “exemplary” users, Apple will offer the fastest charging available for an iPhone to date.
iPhone 15 Pro with 35W charging
Foreign server 9to5Mac reported that the new iPhones should offer faster cable charging speeds of up to 35W. The source said that the new feature should only apply to some models. We can probably rely on the pair of more expensive ones: iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (names not yet confirmed).
Different charging speed prevails even now. While the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max support up to 27W cable charging power, the basic model iPhone 14 and the enlarged iPhone 14 Plus can only charge 20W. Wirelessly, all four phones are the same: a maximum of 15 W. The performance of wireless charging should not change even with the new generation.
Don’t overlook
iPhone 15 Pro will offer extremely thin frames. This is what it will look like
But back to the new iPhone 15. According to available information, this higher 35W charging should only work with an original USB-C cable directly from Apple. The manufacturer wants to “punish” customers who want to charge their iPhone with a non-original cable. At the same time, it is still not clear whether the cable will be included in the sales package at all, or whether it will go the way of Sony, which with the latest generation Xperia 1 has nothing in the package except the mandatory papers and the mobile phone itself.
The fact that the American manufacturer introduced a charging adapter for MacBook Air and Pro last year, which has a power of up to 35 W and has two USB-C ports, adds to the speculation about faster charging. It could thus be the only adapter that would charge the new iPhones 15 Pro and Pro Max with adequate performance. This adapter is available on the official Apple e-shop 1,690 CZK including VAT.
