Just a few weeks ago, Apple had a new iPhone launch. Four new iPhone 15 models were launched here, along with several Apple Watch, AirPods and new iPhone covers.
The latter has usually come in either silicone or leather.
But now the leather cover has been replaced with a new material “FineWoven”, which means fine weave in Norwegian.
The material of the new cover is made of durable microtwill and the surface resembles suede. The new material was designed with the environment in mind, according to Apple.
It is also made from 68 percent recycled content, which gives a considerably lower carbon emission compared to leather. This is some of what Apple highlighted at the launch, which DinSide was present at.

Despite the fact that the cover is supposed to be more environmentally friendly, it has received strong criticism in recent days.
Several have noted that the cover looks worn and scratched after just a few days of use. The Verge refers to the new accessory as “categorically terrible”.
– I think Apple made a decent choice by discontinuing the leather covers, but FineWoven is just not the premium replacement we were looking for, believes the journalist for The Verge.

The Verge aren’t the only ones skeptical of Apple’s latest cover. One Cnet-journalist experienced that Apple’s round wireless charger left a round mark on the cover after only a week of use.
The price of the cover is NOK 799. Several customers do not seem to be impressed, report Buisness Insider. According to the newspaper, several people have complained on Reddit, where one user asks why the Apple logo on the cover looks so dirty and washed out when it is new.
– This cover looks like garbage, writes one.
Apple has not yet commented on the matter. But on the product description they write the following:
“This cover is made of a durable material that protects your iPhone. The material in fine weave can be worn over time. When you use the MagSafe accessory, it will leave small marks and marks. If you want to avoid this, we recommend that you use a silicone cover or a clear cover for the iPhone 15 Pro.”
