Apple’s new feature intimidated the police – call emergency services while people are at the amusement park

Apple recently introduced a new feature for the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch that will detect users involved in an accident and help them reach emergency services. However, this feature has now become a nightmare for the police. When users ride the amusement park roller coaster, the devices call emergency services.

AppleThe new collision detection feature is supposed to trigger in situations that threaten users’ lives, but it seems that the feature comes into play in other situations as well: recently, amusement park roller coaster users automatically called their devices to the police .

New i phone The feature, which works on the 14 and Apple Watch, was supposed to detect serious car accidents and help users reach emergency services. But it confuses roller coasters with accidents, according to the Wall Street Journal and amusement park news site Coaster101.

Dentist Sara White, 39, told the Journal that her iPhone 14 Pro automatically called 911 when she boarded the Mystic Timbers, the 109-foot roller coaster at Ohio’s Kings Island Amusement Park.

During the 911 call, an automated voice says, “The owner of this iPhone has had a serious car accident and is not answering the phone” and also provides the user’s location coordinates. The Warren County Communications Center, which received the call, cited six of these papers in the Journal.

An Apple spokesperson told the Journal that the feature is extremely accurate in detecting serious incidents, but will evolve over time.

The situation where cops are unnecessarily called to the amusement park isn’t just Kings Island. It has been claimed that the same problems were encountered in the Dollywood amusement park. At that point, the amusement park warned: “Cell phones and other devices shouldn’t be taken to places like amusement parks. Due to the dynamic movement you will experience during this trip, Apple Watch and similar devices may activate the emergency call feature. Turn off your device or enable airplane mode to prevent your device from making unwanted calls to emergency services.
