A few days ago, Apple announced the arrival of an “extreme” lock mode on future versions of its OS : The mode Lockdown.
“Lockdown Mode” is a feature that will allow the user to deeply lock certain services on their iPhone, iPad, Mac or iMac, applications and options included. Thus, he can strengthen the security of his device and avoid cyberattacks.
As the Cupertino company specifies, the lock mode is intended for people exposed to serious threats to their digital security.
When you activate the “Lockdown Mode”, the feature locks several services on the device:
- Messages: mode blocks attachments
- Web browsing: the feature disables certain technologies, such as just-in-time (JIT) JavaScript compilation
- Apple Services: “Lockdown Mode” blocks incoming invitations and service requests
- The mode also blocks any wired connection with a computer or other accessory
- User cannot install configuration profile
In its press release, Apple promised to further strengthen the lock mode. Those who do not feel safe can activate it on their device with their eyes closed, and (no longer) worry about anything.
