Mark Gurman says he knows the name of the new Apple chips.
In a few hours Apple celebrates a very important event in which it will show us the future of the Mac. We know that the company is preparing a new MacBook Pro that we already know a lot about, even that it could have a notch like that of the iPhone. But along with this new Mac, the next Apple Silicon chip will arrive of the company.
The M1 processor included so far in the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13 “, Mac mini and iPad, is only the first generation of Apple Silicon. It is expected that this second processor of an important leap in terms of performance, and is intended for the most professional teams.
And just a few hours from the event, the official name of this new chip could have been leaked, or rather, the official names since it seems that we will have two different versions.

‘M1 Pro’ and ‘M1 Max’ will be Apple’s new chips
The new MacBook Pros are expected to use the next generation of Apple Silicon, chips up to 10 CPU cores, with eight high-performance cores and two highly energy-efficient cores. Also, we could have two models of 16- and 32-core GPU, with 16 and 32 GB RAM included.
There has been a lot of speculation about the possible name of these chips. Many bet on the name “M1X”, following the strategy that was present in the chips of the series “A” of the iPad. Others said it could be called M2, being a second generation of the first chip. However it seems that Apple has other ideas.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman points out in his latest newsletter Power On that a Mac developer has assured him that in the application logs they have appeared the chip names “M1 Pro” and “M1 Max”.
The aforementioned developer tells me that new MacBook Pro chips have appeared in the registries under the names “M1 Pro” and “M1 Max”. I’m not saying Apple takes that direction with their actual marketing names, but that’s another possibility, albeit more confusing. We will know for sure in just 24 hours.
People are crazy about the new MacBook Pro, a third of users want to buy it
We do not know what marketing decision will Apple make, but what seems clear is that we will have two new chips in the MacBook Pro, probably with two different configurations and powers.
