Apple’s Major Change: No More Charging for Those Who Don’t Adapt

Do you have this mobile phone? If you don’t adapt to this novelty, you can probably throw it away. You won’t charge it anymore.

After the implementation of the USB-C connector in the new iPhone models, it was assumed that Apple would gradually convert its other accessories to this standard, which would lead to the unification of the connectors.

Big change

The first wave of this change was expected among Mac accessories, as Apple computers have long used USB-C connectors. The surprise was that no such USB-C accessory was introduced during Apple’s October event. However, new information is now circulating that suggests that Apple does not plan to make this change until the spring of 2024. During the presentation in October, Apple was expected to introduce a new version of the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard with a new USB-C port. However, this expectation was not met, which was surprising to many, especially considering that the new iMac M3 came with peripherals that still use the Lightning connector for charging.

A new charging method

The current news comes from Instant Digital’s Weibo account, which has not always provided reliable information in the past. However, that account now says that a Mac accessory with a USB-C connector should appear sometime “in spring 2024.” With Apple planning major iPad and Mac upgrades in March 2024, including the new iPad Pro, iPad Air, and MacBook Air, it stands to reason that accessories could also be updated. If you don’t want to stick with your old Lightning accessories, it might be wise to wait to buy a new Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad until the expected USB-C updates arrive in spring 2024.

Those who do not adapt will no longer charge their phone.
