Most reports believe the new iPhone SE 3 coming in 2022 would be a rather boring update, sticking to the same small TouchID screen and home button as previous models. However, this week a new leak says something different, claiming that Apple will go for an iPhone XR-like design with a giant screen and ditch the home button for good.
According to Chinese website MyDrivers, Apple’s next budget iPhone will arrive in early 2022 with a whole new look. Contrary to earlier information from famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, MyDrivers believes Apple will reuse the iPhone XR design and 6.1-inch screen instead of mirroring the old 2020 design of the iPhone SE 2 .
The site mentions a larger screen, no home button, and Apple will use a side-mounted fingerprint scanner inside the power key, something we’ve never seen on an iPhone. That said, some iPad models have side-mounted fingerprint scanners, so that’s a possibility. Then, echoing other rumors, the new iPhone SE 2022 will use an upgraded Apple A15 Bionic processor and support 5G speeds.
Leaked Apple iPhone LCD, we now hear that the next iPhone SE LCD will remain at 4.7 ″ in 2022. Some rumors say that it could also have 5G with a band below 6 GHz. Also hear about a 6.1 ″ version 2023 with perforation rather than a notch.

However, earlier this year, display analyst Ross Young posted the above tweet, stating that the 2022 iPhone SE 3 will again use the 4.7-inch LCD screen and wait until 2023 for make larger changes. So here we have two entirely different stories, and we’ll just have to wait and see.
The next budget iPhone SE could be small and have an immobile physical home button or ditch it all in favor of a large punch-hole display and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Stay tuned for more details.
