Apple’s iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus to Feature Ultra-Thin Camera Bump Design and Other Updates

Over the past few months, Apple has continued to experiment with different camera bump designs for the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models. As early as December last year, foreign media had first exposed three prototype designs of Apple’s iPhone 16 (please click here), but recently Apple seems to have changed its focus again. Not only has it changed back to the dual-lens main camera design that was arranged vertically in the iPhone 12 era, but it has also significantly reduced the protruding range of the main camera.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus adopt “ultra-thin” camera bump design

A few days ago, Majin Bu broke the news about the iPhone 16 mobile phone design on the ” credibility.
Compared with the iPhone 15, it uses a wide-angle main lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens arranged opposite each other, and will integrate the light and microphone into the square frame of the main camera module. The next iPhone 16 series will be launched this fall. Among them, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are equipped with dual-lens main cameras. They are expected to “return” to the vertically arranged dual lenses of the iPhone 12 period, but the difference is that there is no longer a square frame. Instead of surrounding the main camera lens, it uses a capsule-like design and integrates a microphone, and the flash position is adjusted to the right side of the two lenses.

MacRumors said that Apple is trying to draw inspiration from older iPhones such as the iPhone X in the latest camera appearance. In addition, if the iPhone 16 can adopt the vertically arranged camera layout, we can even expect Apple to transfer spatial video recording to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models. Foreign media also mentioned that the current iPhone 15 models have a diagonal camera layout and are unable to capture spatial videos. Currently, “space video” recording is only supported by the iPhone 15 Pro series models and the Vision Pro body itself.

In terms of screens, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus screens are expected to continue the design of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Even though they support the dynamic island function, they still do not support the always-on display (AOD) and ProMotion adaptive refresh rate technology.

In addition to updating the camera bump to make it less “protruding,” recent rumors suggest that Apple’s iPhone 16 prototype design also includes modifications to the action button and shooting button. The new iPhone 16 prototype design features smaller action buttons, similar to those used on the iPhone 15 Pro. On the middle frame of the fuselage, it is rumored that a mechanical shooting button will be added. Foreign media believe that Apple has temporarily given up the idea of introducing capacitive action buttons into the iPhone 16 series.

However, compared to the changes in the appearance of the iPhone 16, there is not much news about the appearance changes of the iPhone 16 Pro series, except that the body size may be larger than the iPhone 15 Pro.
