BANGKAPOS.COM – Not yet launched, Apple’s newest products, namely the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, are starting to have problems.
According to a new report, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and especially the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be severely in short supply once it launches in September.
This seems to have something to do with the screen build issue on LG Display.
The problem stems from the fact that a new manufacturing process was used to shrink the bezel size.
This appears to be a similar issue to one Apple has also had for some Apple Watch models in the past.
The screens for the iPhone 15 Pro (and, again, especially the Pro Max) made by LG reportedly failed reliability tests during a process where the screen was fused to the metal shell.
Apple is currently tweaking the design of the screen made by LG in order to pass the aforementioned tests, and Apple still has displays made by Samsung available for assembly.
However, this issue is expected to cause limited production from launch.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the hardest to get, followed by the Pro.
A separate report from the previous day claimed that Apple would delay the launch by a few weeks, but this new source contradicts that, in line with the flaw hypothesis.
Either way, there’s something with that look and it’s influencing Apple’s launch plans.
Apple is expected to start mass production of the iPhone 15 series in August, said Jeff Pu of Haitong International Tech Research.
According to analysts, the company is on track to produce 84 million units by the end of 2023, 12 percent more than the iPhone 14 devices for the same period last year.
Analysts also predict the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a higher starting price than the 14 Pro Max, which is $1,099 in the United States and €1,449 in Europe.
