Rumors that Apple is preparing to launch a smart display for the smart home have been circulating for some time, and quite actively lately. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed new details.
This is what we know
So, this will be Apple’s first smart home device with support for Apple Intelligence. The gadget will get an A18 processor and a relatively small screen, about the size of two iPhones placed side by side. And if there are also speakers, you will have a HomePod with a screen.
Apple’s new HomeOS operating system will be able to run applications such as FaceTime, Notes and Calendar. The screen will likely also be able to run video and photo slideshows.
Mark Gurman has also revealed an interesting design detail: the screen will sit on a round stand, in the style of the iMac G4. Apparently, Apple has decided to get nostalgic and remember its gadget launched a couple of decades ago.
The smart display is expected to go on sale early next year.
