Apple has yet to jump into the foldable phone space despite rivals including SamsungHuawei, LG y Xiaomi Corporation (OTC:XIACY), have been successful with their own versions.

A foldable device from Apple has been rumored for some time, although the company has not made any official announcement. The use of E Ink, popularized by Kindle e-reading devices from Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), would distinguish Apple’s product from its rivals. Kindle uses black-and-white electronic paper displays, unlike the color versions planned for the foldable iPhone.

Rumors of Samsung and LG supplying Apple with foldable screens have circulated in the past. Kuo previously noted that Apple is experimenting with a foldable 8-inch iPhone with a flexible OLED screen and a foldable 9-inch device.

After previously suggesting a possible release in 2023Kuo changed his estimate to 2025. The same point of view was echoed by display analyst Ross Young.
