A larger 32″ iMac is already in development, according to a respected journalist
Apple currently only offers a 24″ variant of its popular computer
Users wanting a larger iMac will have to stick with older machines for now
Apple’s iMac desktop computers are among the most popular, after all, they are the ones that pushed the all-in-one trend, i.e. computers that have all the important components inside the display. The giant from Cupertino had several sizes in its offer, but after the transition from the platform from Intel to its own M1 chips, only the 24″ version of the iMac remained in the offer. However, it is not large enough for many users, especially those who are used to larger variants that Apple still produced on Intel processors.
Intensive work on a 32″ iMac
If you belong to this group of users, we have good news for you. Well-known journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg previously confirmed the development of larger iMacs, but now he finally came up with more detailed information. The size of the display panel should stop at 32″, which is the same size as the Pro Display XDR professional monitor. Whether it will also include a 6K resolution for a sufficiently fine display, however, is not yet clear and is more of a wild speculation.
For the time being, those interested in a larger iMac will have to stick with older machines
According to Gurman, the development of the larger 32″ iMac is still at a very early stage, so we should not expect its arrival on the market in the near future. If his information is accurate, we should see him at the end of 2024 at the earliest, but rather at the beginning of 2025. By that time, he should already have a newer M3 chipset, which should be built on 3nm production technology and thus be more powerful and economical. than the variant currently used in iMacs, which is the M1 processor built on 5nm production technology. What is a big question mark is the possible price, however, at such an early stage of development, it is still too early to speculate on this topic.
Don’t overlook
Bold speculation? The new Apple Watch Ultra and iMac Pro are said to arrive in the fall
Fans of larger displays currently have to put up with the old 27″ iMac and iMac pro with Intel processors, which Apple stopped selling a few years ago. Since then, it has not offered an alternative, so satisfied owners have to put up with using older hardware, or invent combinations of Mac Mini or Mac Studio together with a Studio Display monitor, which is not very practical, nor twice as cheap.
