Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro was expected to replace its physical buttons with solid-state buttons, according to rumors that have circulated since last year. However, it now appears that this will not happen anytime soon. Apple supplier Cirrus Logic has said that a new product scheduled for introduction this fall is no longer going to come to market as planned. Cirrus is responsible for producing components for the iPhone’s Taptic Engine and has informed investors and analysts that it was working on a new high-performance mixed-signal (HPMS) component that would arrive in smartphones sometime this year. However, limited visibility into the product’s future has led to uncertainty about when the solid-state buttons will be introduced. Reports of the feature originated from Ming-Chi Kuo, who said that Apple was planning to replace the physical volume and power buttons on its next flagship phone with touch-sensitive buttons. However, Kuo later stated that Apple had decided to change its plans due to unresolved technical issues before mass production. As always, be cautious of smartphone leaks, especially those that circulate months or years in advance of a product’s announcement.
