One of the big news in the recently launched update to iOS 16.2 and Mac OS Ventura 13.1 was the ability to upgrade to a new home architecture for HomeKit. The update would introduce a wealth of new features to Homekit and Apple’s Home app, which was introduced at this year’s WWDC. Instead, devices froze while updating or configuring, other devices didn’t appear at all, surveillance video didn’t work, and other users couldn’t be invited.
However, so many users are said to have had issues with the update that Apple has now removed the option to upgrade to the new technology. The company itself hasn’t said anything about the extent of the problems or when it will restore the ability to update. However, the feature is said to return “soon,” suggesting that there will be a separate update so users don’t have to wait until iOS 16.3.
