Apple Will Use E-Sim For Next Generation of iPhone?

Selular.ID – After releasing the iPhone 13 which has advanced camera features, there is actually a feature reduction from Apple that will cut the SIM card slot on the next generation iPhone to use E-Sim.

Previously, there had been many rumors circulating before, that Apple would produce iPhones without a SIM card slot starting with the iPhone 15 line which is said to be launching in 2023. But it will come sooner, namely in 2022 through the iPhone 14 line.

Apple has also reduced the physical port for the iPhone in 2016, which removed the 3.5mm audio jack for the iPhone 7.

Report from MacRumours, confirms that Apple has compromised with cellular carriers in the United States to prepare for the launch of electronic SIM (e-SIM)-only smartphones in September 2022.

It is possible that the next generation iPhone no longer uses a physical SIM card and may even no longer have a physical SIM card slot. MacRumours also distributed a document that looked legitimate, outlining the time frame of the plan.

Even so, MacRumors stressed that the document does not clearly state which Apple products will use an electronic SIM in the next year.

However, if the data described is true, then there is a possibility that Apple will start trimming the physical SIM card slot on some iPhone 14 models, at least on the iPhone 15 line.

Moreover, it has been explained that it will be planned in September 2022 which is the time for Apple’s subscription to release its newest iPhone product and in September 2022 the iPhone 14 will be released as Apple did.

Cellular carriers in the US are also likely to start selling certain iPhone 13 models without the nano-SIM card usually included in the box, starting in the second quarter (April-June) 2022.

For iPhone 13 series sold in stores Apple Store or in Apple.com actually there is no nano-SIM card in the sales box, which makes iPhone 13 users have to activate a cellular plan via e-SIM.
