Apple extends its Independent Repair Provider (IRP) program launched at the very end of last summer in the United States. Participating iPhone repairers can obtain the same spare parts, tools, repair and diagnostic manuals as authorized repairers and Apple Stores, but at the cost of fairly high constraints, although the program is free (read: Apple has a fairly binding contract for new independent repairers).
Since the launch of this initiative, more than 140 independent repairers have joined the program, in 700 American cities. The novelty of the day is the opening of the IRP program in Canada and in Europe: professionals from 32 countries can now apply to participate. There are no fees and training is free for newcomers. Update – Note that screen or battery repairs made in Apple Store and in authorized service centers are guaranteed for 90 days. According to an internal memo that we have intercepted, repairs carried out by providers of the IRP program will not benefit from this guarantee.
