Products are considered legacy when Apple discontinued marketing more than five years ago and less than seven years ago. In this case, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Centers will continue to offer repairs for these products for up to seven years; but, only subject to parts availability.
Separately, Apple will also add the original iPad mini that was released in 2012 to its list of discontinued products on July 31, according to the memo. The products are considered obsolete when Apple discontinued marketing over seven years ago. For example, the manufacturer no longer performs hardware repairs for obsolete products, but Mac notebooks may be eligible for a battery-only repair for an extended period of up to 10 years from the last product release date, subject to parts availability. Apple Authorized Service Centers cannot order parts for obsolete products.
