JAKARTAApple recently launched the iPhone 13 lineup in September 2021, and another iPhone 14 in the next few months. But the rumors surrounding iPhone 15 has even started circulating on the internet and it is reported that Apple will dispose of the physical SIM card slot in its newest product.

This means that starting from 2023, the iPhone will no longer have a physical SIM card slot and will use an eSIM, as quoted from GSM Arena, Tuesday (12/28/2021)

This rumor comes from the Brazilian publication Blog do iPhone which says that the iPhone 2023 model – while called the iPhone 15 Pro, will not have a SIM Card slot and will rely solely on eSIM technology for connectivity.

The source also claims that iPhone 15 will come with dual eSIM support. This allows users to have two eSIMs simultaneously.

However, it is not yet known whether models other than the Pro will also rely entirely on eSIM technology or continue to use the physical SIM card slot.

Apple’s plan to ditch the SIM card slot shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the tech giant will eventually move to a portless iPhone, and removing the SIM card slot seems like the first step in that direction.

However, if Apple launches iPhone without a SIM card slot, it looks like the company will still offer a version with a physical SIM slot in countries where eSIM service is not available.
