Apple Will Release MacBook With M2 Chip

JAKARTA – Apple is reported to be releasing their M2 chip in 2022. Sourced from a Bloomberg reporter, Mark Gurman, quoted from The VergeApple’s M2 chip is expected to debut on the redesigned 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, 24-inch iMac, and MacBook Air.

There is no further information from Apple itself, including about what advantages the M2 chip will bring compared to its predecessor, the M1 chip.

However, as Gurman also said, this M2 chip will have a faster CPU than the M1, even if only slightly. Because it will likely still use the same eight-core (8-core) architecture as the M1 chip.

This number is less than the number of ten (10-cores) that have been used in the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips that Apple just launched in October 2021.

With this fact, Gurman believes that after Apple launches the M2 chip, they are likely to immediately launch versions of the M2 Pro and Max chips in 2023 after.

The estimated time is much faster than the M2 chip release period, which is more than a year after the launch of the M1 chip in November 2020. Where the M1 chip launch is the initial stage of Apple’s shift from Intel Silicon to their own Apple Silicon.

At that time their transition began with presenting the M1 chip on the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and MacBook Air. Continued in 2021 with the iMac and the advent of the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips on the MacBook Pro.

With what Apple has taken, Gurman believes that in 2022, Apple will move faster independently with Apple Silicon. The fast pace is predicted to start in March 2022, when a number of new devices will be launched.

It is also there that the M2 chip is believed to have the opportunity to appear for the first time. Together with the iPhone SE 5G and iPad Air, which will be the main focus.

In addition to March at Apple’s inaugural big event in 2022, it will likely also be around May and June. When a number of devices have been described in detail, Apple will launch it throughout 2022.

These tools include; New Mac minis that will use the M1 Pro chip, larger iMac Pros with M1 Pro and M1 Max chip options, mid-sized Mac Pros that will use chips “equivalent to two or four M1 Max chips”.

For devices with its own M2 chip, as mentioned earlier, it is said that Gurman will appear on the 13-inch MacBook Pro to replace the 2020 model year.
