Apple Will Produce Flagship iPhone 12 and iPhone SE in India

Suppliers Apple Wistron is currently hiring in India in preparation for production iPhone 12.

Wistron is likely to employ 10,000 employees to work at the Narasapura factory in Bengaluru, India.

Nearly 1,000 Wistron employees are currently reportedly working iPhone 12 and production of these devices will begin in October.

The new model looks set to be ready for shipment in mid-2021. The smartphone is said to be aimed at the Indian market, and local production will serve as a vehicle for Apple to cut import duties which could reach 22 percent.

Apple has been making lower priced smartphones in India since 2017. Some time ago, Foxconn started producing iPhone 11 in the country.

India’s iPhone SE production can also be expected to start at the end of the year.

According to a report, Pegatron, which is the second largest iPhone builder, will also set up a factory in India.

Apple also plans to open India’s first flagship store in 2021 as quoted by Phone Arena.

Increasing production in India is also said to be a way for Apple to reduce its dependence on China, where most of its smartphones are currently made.

It is not yet known whether the model iPhone 12 those produced in India will also be sold in other countries.
