Apple will include a 3D camera in its new iPhone models

When the technology seems to have reached its limit, a brand updates its devices to become something completely new. Apple does so. Steve Jobs’ company plans to launch a rear 3D depth camera or a “world facing” camera later this year.

According to the Fast company, the camera has been in operation for two years, although Apple has never presented the technology because it was not satisfied with the results. But 2020 is the key year, as the company appears to be ready for launch, though they are also likely to change their minds before unveiling it.

Depth cameras already exist on the latest iPhones to support Face ID and Animoji. This new variation could appear on the back of smartphones with a configuration that includes lasers, sensors, and light-shedding software to measure the distance between the device and surrounding objects.

The new camera could make the iPhone improve portrait mode while achieving more advanced effects and allowing more layers of depth. Perhaps you can even allow users to edit the layers of a blurred photo.

The publication notes that the camera will predominantly enhance photo and video effects as well as help create high quality augmented reality experiences. In addition, Apple would not be the first brand to introduce this element to its devices, since Samsung, one of its main competitors, already has a version in some of its latest models.

Despite this, Apple will look for new ways to take advantage of technology to continue differentiating itself.
