Apple will get rid of the SIM card slot for the iPhone?

Jakarta (ANTARA) – It is rumored that Apple will eliminate the SIM card slot on the iPhone in September 2022, at which point they will only release mobile phones with eSIMs.

Although it is still a rumor and it is not clear which Apple products will fully adopt eSIM, it is already planned that Apple products will switch to using eSIM.

Citing Mac Rumors, Wednesday, proof of the transition to eSIM products will be carried out on the iPhone 13 without a slot nano SIM cards in the second quarter of 2022 for US sales.

iPhone 13 sold at Apple Stores and Apple’s official website for the United States is no longer accompanied by SIM sales card.

Later, buyers who get the iPhone eSIM version will be able to get a data package by connecting their cellphone to a Wi-Fi connection and then following the instructions according to the conditions on their cellphone screen.

With an update like that, it’s very possible for the iPhone 14 series until later that Apple can eliminate the part for the physical SIM card.

Although it looks promising, eSIM services are not yet available globally, there are only a few countries that have implemented the presence of eSIM.

While the rest, which are counted more, still apply the use of a physical SIM card.

With these market conditions, Apple is still preparing its phones to continue to adopt the SIM card slot.

Apple’s head of design, Jony Ive, once mentioned removing the SIM slot card on the iPhone, it is likely that a slimmer and more water-resistant design will be born than the current design.

In addition to getting rid of the SIM slot card then the user may be able to get a larger internal memory.
