However, Apple really wants the Pro and Pro Max versions of its new iPhone 15 to have unique and enhanced aspects that separate themselves from the more vanilla versions. One of these possible changes could be seen in certain functions related to the screen and the camera.
For example, the LiDAR scanner is expected to be more power efficient on the iPhone 15 Pro models, which could contribute to longer battery life or allow the LiDAR scanner to offer improved performance at the same level of power consumption as existing iPhones.
The renowned analyst of Apple Ming-Chi Kuo has already explained that the improved LiDAR scanner could benefit camera features such as night mode and autofocus, as well as augmented reality uses.
Highlight that Apple has already confirmed that Sony will be the sole supplier of LiDAR scanner components for its upcoming iPhones.. Of course, although they change suppliers, the operation of the final product does not. Only Sony’s solution was specified to provide better performance and energy efficiency compared to competing vendors.
First introduced on iPhone 12 Pro models in 2020, the LiDAR scanner can measure the distance of light and capture depth information, and hardware is expected to remain exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro models from Apple.
