The publication reports that much of the Apple equipment originally used to produce the chips needed for Touch ID in the iPhone has now been permanently stopped.
That being said, the only remaining devices are for the third-generation iPhone SE, suggesting that Apple has no plans to revive Touch ID as an authentication method on iPhones in the near future.
The publication notes that there are no credible rumors about the return of Apple’s fingerprint scanning technology to the iPhone 16 line.
At the same time, it is reported that the fourth generation iPhone SE will be equipped with Face ID, replacing the latest iPhone model, which still uses Touch ID. However, rumors continue to circulate that Apple is working on under-display fingerprint scanning technology, which could arrive around 2026 – the same time frame that the company allegedly plans to bring Face ID under the device’s display.
iOS17 problems on iPhone
Users have reported that system updates cause devices to drain battery faster. This was seen by users of iPhone SE 2020, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone XR.
In addition, hidden protection against counterfeiting was found on the iPhone 15. Special inscriptions and QR codes are visible only under ultraviolet light. This is how the company plans to fight counterfeits. This will help determine whether the phone is new or has already been used.
