It’s been a couple of years since Apple announced the end of iTunes. The Apple program designed to give access to all multimedia content of the company, as well as to manage mobile devices, ended up becoming a real mess for the company. One that was definitely not working the way it should.
Thus, with macOS Catalina, Apple removed iTunes from circulation, and replaced it with the Music, Podcasts and TV apps that already existed on the iPad. In turn, the Finder took over the part of device syncing. If this move was successful or not, it depends on the opinion of each one.
However, iTunes was not completely out of our lives. Specifically, never got to go on Windows, where it is still the mandatory stop to access Apple Music, Podcasts, iTunes movies, and everything related to the synchronization of our devices. At least, until now, since its end in Microsoft’s system could also be falling.
Some time ago, a job posting appeared at Apple stating that they were working on “the next generation of multimedia apps for Windows.” Now from 9to5Mac have confirmed the existence of private tests of some new Music and Podcasts apps para the Microsoft Store.
As it is a multiplatform store, to which it is possible to access not only from a PC, but also from Xbox consoles, it is difficult to know if these will be compatible with both devices. In principle, compatibility with PCs is expected to be ensured.
