Apple Watch, updated to WatchOS 7, will allow streaming of DRM copyrighted content thanks to the FairPlay.
FairPlay allows you to play DRM songs in real time by encrypting them, in order to protect their copyright. The function is particularly useful for not allowing third parties to make unauthorized registrations.
All of this is particularly interesting because it sets in motion a new possibility for those who create applications and make them available to users in App Store. Assuming that many new Apps can be published to play DRM-protected music, the consumer will have more choice to use the app that best suits his personal taste, using only Apple Watch and Wireless earphones to listen to it.
But the good points don’t end there. Aside from encrypted playback, WatchOS 7 also increases compatibility with audio codecs that can now be saved and read in the format xHE-AAC.
With the xHE-AAC format the audio quality will remain the same and instead the bitrate will change. With the use of this codec, the track will change reducing its weight and obviously will favor streaming playback which will be lighter and more appropriate in the case of a not exactly optimal connection.
