The Apple Watch could be next new technology on your screen that reduces power consumption and therefore could achieve a significant leap in autonomy, which is one of the weakest points of the Apple Watch.
After the summer we will see a new iPhone, but we cannot forget that we will also have a new Apple Watch model, both in its regular version and in its Ultra version. There is no mention of changes in the design of the new models, but the new microLED screens, which they will finally not have, despite rumors, have been talked about for quite some time. This does not mean that there will be no changes in them, because it seems that Apple will change the type of screen, which will continue to be OLED type will use new LTPO technology (Low temperature polycrystalline oxide). It is a technology that complicates the production of panels, but achieves a greater efficiency of the screen, which can reduce its refresh rate to 1Hz.
Of course, this low refresh rate looks familiar to you iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have this feature, and that’s because they already use this type of technology in their screens. When the screen is on, but at rest, the refresh rate drops to 1 Hz to save battery so we can always see information on the screen while reducing power consumption. Apple wants to do the same with Apple Watches. Thus, an additional autonomy time would be achieved, which would allow the battery of normal models to be pushed up to two days, and Ultra models – up to three days. It wouldn’t be an extraordinary leap in autonomy, but it would be an extra that users will definitely appreciate. Or maybe it will help to maintain the same autonomy, but provide it with new functions that Apple has accustomed us to.
