Our expectations of the Apple Watch Series 3 successor

According to the generally well-established Bloomberg Apple is working on a cheaper version of the Watch. This new watch would be the current one Series 3 need to be replaced. Apple now sells this smart watch for 229 euros. We expect this from the successor to the Apple Watch Series 3.

1. Mainly fitness tracker functions

The Series 3 is primarily intended for people who want to take advantage of the fitness tracker features of the Apple Watch. Other Apple Watch functions, such as taking a photo with your Watch, are then not necessarily necessary. The new budget model would therefore compete with cheaper fitness devices, such as cheaper models from Fitbit.

2. Better processor

The Apple Watch Series 3 is now about three years old and you notice that in the design and speed of the smartwatch. It is therefore expected that Apple will equip the budget model with a faster processor, for example the same as that of the Apple Watch Series 5.

3. Functions of Series 4 and 5

The Watch would not only take over the processor of a newer model, but also a number of useful health functions. So would the convenient fall detection function likely to be added to the budget model. Long press on the Digital Crown to reach the control room also remains an option in this cheaper variant.

4. Design and price will remain the same

Apple probably won’t tinker with the Watch’s signature look much. The newer models have not gone through any bigger changes either, and the successor to the Series 3 is still expected to fit in that list.

Nothing is known about the price yet, but the new budget model may cost the same as the Apple Watch Series 3: 229 euros.

The unveiling of the low-cost variant of the Apple Watch is likely to coincide with the announcement of the new one Watch Series 6. That may already be tomorrow, on September 8. It could also be that Apple saves the launch for the iPhone 12-event.
