Apple Watch Rumored to Detect Hypertension and Sleep Apnea, AirPods to Serve as Hearing Aid

Bloomberg informants claim that the next generation of Apple Watches will have the ability to detect two serious diseases: hypertension and sleep apnea. Both can occur in conjunction with other health problems and increase the risk of life-threatening conditions.

Apple is building new sensors

To detect these two phenomena, Apple is working on new types of sensors for the watch. Detection of increased blood pressure is to take place without an inflated cuff and immediately on the wrist of the person wearing the watch. Initially, there will be no separate readings for systolic and diastolic pressure, but over time they will also appear in the Apple Health app.

Users will also receive a diary with records of measurements and events that accompanied them. Thanks to this, you will be able to easily find a correlation between elevated blood pressure, diet, activity, sleep, travel, etc.

Sleep apnea detection will involve tracking the user’s sleep and breathing. If the app decides that you need to see a doctor because it has probably detected sleep apnea, it will notify you immediately.

The same sources also inform that Apple AirPods headphones may have a new use – a publicly available hearing aid. A lot of people already use them in this way and it is a completely logical step. Apple is also working on features that will allow owners to conduct a simple hearing test. We will certainly also see health advice, training and diet suggestions provided by artificial intelligence in Apple Health.
