Then I’m afraid you may have to wait a long time before replacing it. I wouldn’t expect anything more from the first generation blood sugar meter, if it comes in the Watch, other than indicating an estimated range of your blood sugar and then probably over a certain period (of multiple samples). And then I also suspect that it will be limited to a trend and type range. (Low, normal, pre-diabetes, diabetes.).
If you want to wait to replace your Watch until it has full-fledged rt-CGM functionality on board, then I think we are still about 10 years further, if not longer. This is partly because such a function must be medically tested in order for it to display useful real-time values and no fast-tracking (FDA) is available if it is a new way and form factor of measurement.
But hey, who knows, Apple might surprise us and pull it off in the short term.
