Apple waives App Store requirements

Apple is set to allow alternative app stores on its iPhones and iPads as part of a major overhaul aimed at meeting the European Union’s (EU)’s stringent competition law requirements in 2024.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Apple users will now be able to download third-party software to their iPhones and iPads without using the App Store.

As part of the changes, customers will be able to download third-party software to their iPhones and iPads without using the company’s App Store, bypassing Apple’s restrictions and up to a 30% payment fee.
